Frequently Asked Questions

1.   Can we visit the farm?

We welcome visitors to our farm and to see our operations

Our standard opening hours are:
October to March . Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday 10-4pm
April to September -Saturday and Sunday 10-4pm
We are not open on Christmas Day.

We welcome visitors outside of these hours. Rather than be disappointed we recommend that you telephone or email us prior to visiting outside of normal opening hours. That way we can make sure that the farm is open.

Larger tour groups, community and aged care groups are always welcome but for catering reasons we require bookings. Please contact us on 8572 7152 or 0422996046 to make a booking.

2.   What is the best time to see the lavender in flower?

Anytime from November to January is the best time to see the lavender. Depending on the weather conditions the flowers appear in late November. In seasons where there is little rain or it has been warm in October the flowers may come on earlier in November.

We usually start harvesting in January. For visitors benefit we always leave some rows of lavender unharvested.

The dry hot weather will 'bring on' the flowers so it is best to see the lavender before we have a series of 40O days. The main 'Grosso' flower colours vary from bright purple when young to a darker purple as they mature.

3.    Can group tours be organised?

We can cater for larger groups to visit the farm and offer a great Devonshire tea option which includes 2 x homemade fresh scones, jam and cream with either a cappuccino or cup of tea. Depending on the size of the group we can also offer a bbq lunch or set lunch menu.
Please call Allan on (08) 85727152 for a quote and further details.

4.    How do you harvest the lavender and process it?

We harvest all of the lavender by hand using sickles. The lavender is bunched by hand, cut by the sickle and then banded and placed on a specially made trolley ready for placing on the drying racks.

Once dried we strip the lavender flower from the stalks. The dried flowers are then sieved ready for use.

Depending on the use, we generally triple sieve our dried flowers. This removes the unwanted stalk material and helps to remove the very fine black seed which is inside the flower.

If we are harvesting the lavender for oil production, then the lavender is harvested in the same way. Instead of drying the lavender we cut most of the stalk material away and place the flower heads in the distillation unit. Allan then distils the oil, and bottles the oil and distilled lavender water for use in making products.

5.    Can you tell me more about your products?

All of our products are made on site, with the exception of the pottery and cards. These are made by a local artist.

Our dried lavender is harvested

For those people who are allergic to almonds, we can make our body and face care products without the almond oil. It isn't too much trouble. All we do is replace the almond oil with another suitable oil that provides similar properties. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you want something slightly different. As we make all of our products in small batches it is easy enough for us to customise most of the product range.

6.    When I place an order how long will it take before I receive the goods?

We process all orders within 24 hours of receipt.
Depending on the postal delivery times all deliveries should be received within less than one week. For people living in major capital centres it is likely to be within 3 days.

In the unlikely event we are out of stock, we will notify you of any potential delays. As we make all products on-site and generally in small batches it is likely that fresh stock will be made within a couple of days of the order being received. In our experience the only hold-up has been with packaging supplies.

7.    Is it secure to pay for your products over the internet?

We use encrypted software to process orders placed over the internet. There are strict security processes in place to ensure that customer's personal banking details are not disclosed.

By using the encrypted software the banking details are held separately to the customer name and address. In the event that the system was 'hacked' into then it is highly improbable for anyone to link the two lots of information.

We also use a reputable Internet Service Provider and Web Host.

8.    Can I fax or post an order form?

Orders are welcome by fax, post, email or on-line. If you are unsure what you want to order why not give us a telephone call and we can help you make a decision as well as take your order over the phone.

For faxed orders please send to (08) 8572 7152. As this is the same number as our telephone number we suggest you call or email us to check and make sure the order has been received.

9.    What is your product guarantee?

We will gladly replace any product that appears faulty.

Where ever possible we try and use locally produced raw materials such as beeswax and oils. Natural imperfections occur with these products which are quite harmless.

If you are unsatisfied with a product you have received from us we would ask that you contact us. Providing the product has been stored correctly we will refund your money.
